I would suggest the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith. Our book club has been together for almost five years now and we make a point to read at least one book in this series every year. They always prove to be fun and entertaining! Everyone in our book club has loved these!

How about one of Janet Evanovich's books with its hilarious characters? Another humorous author is Bill Bryson, who writes travel books, which are great. I can remember reading one when I was going through a divorce, and it was a savings grace!
