Jane Green has written several books, and they fall in the same genre as Chick Lit, which I don't find as a bad term. To me they are a sort of romantic comedy. Well, I started with Bookends, about a young woman named Cath, who decides to own her own bookstore/cafe in London with her friend Lucy. It's a book about relationships, and very funny. I think I will give another Jane Green book a try as I liked this one. It's perfect beach reading or something light to read before going off to sleep. Jane Green has a new book out this month called The Beach House in hardback, and new in paperback on May 27th is Second Chances. Her latest paperback is Swapping Lives, where 2 woman swap lives, one from England and the other lives in CT. The other titles are Straight Talking, To Have And To Hold, Babyville, Mr. Maybe, Jemima J and The Other Woman. I will keep you posted of the books I read from Jane Green. Won't you join me?
Jemima J. has finally arrived in the mail, it's so great to be able to get a new book for $2 at a on-line bookstore! And this book is really cute so far, having always had a weight problem, I can relate to Jemima!
I have about 100 pages left. This is a Cinderella story but I'm enjoying it, and get to see what LA is like in the eyes of Jemima as she ventures out there from London to visit her boyfriend, yet I sense that there seems to be a lack of connection even though he sounds perfect and Jemima has slimmed down now. Perfect bed time reading that gives me sweet dreams! I will be sorry to see the characters go but I plan to read Mr. Maybe next!
I finished Jemima J today and I must say I did like it abit better than Bookends. This book should be made into a movie, with Aston Kutscher as Ben Williams, he does not play a big character in the book but an important one. The circumstances in how JJ gets stuck in LA in regard to her American boyfriend are bizarre and a great storyline!
If you like, I just finished Bookends and Jemima J, I bought them new, so they've been gently read, and going to the Thrift Shop but I can mail to you instead? They are really cute and remind me of Sophia Kinsella, but SK's character's tend to get into more trouble, LOL. I can also send you Mr. Maybe when I am finished which is my fav so far!
I love the main character, Libby, this book is like reading her diary. And thank you Jane Green, for coming up with Libby, she speaks up and speaks her mind, when she's not happy in a relationship. 4 more chapters to go and then I plan on reading "Babyville".
The Beach House is doing very well and so is Second Chances, all good reviews I see. I might have to go get The Beach House rather then wait for it in PB.
Want to laugh while sitting in the shade, with your favorite drink, then pick up a Jane Green book!
