Zorro, Thanks for posting Oprah's new selection. Are you planning on reading here?

Ramona, It looks like it will be quite a feat of technology for the Harpo crew to broadcast this whole package...reading, reading groups, live weekly webcasts, discussion questions, Holy Cow! They had such a hard time just transferring us to the new board, I don't know how they will handle all of this. Let's see if we need to discuss here or there??? Maybe we will want to do both?

Can anyone tell me if they saw the show yet. It's only 8am in Hawaii, I won't see it until 4pm and I was wondering how the Ken Follett segment was done?
The reason I ask is that I had sent my video in asking Mr. Follett a question I guess because of my participation on the discussion message board. I was never contacted again, so I thought maybe it was not used. Just curious. If I am on, you can see Pearl Harbor in the background! Aagin, I'm not getting excited as I'm sure they kept the bookclub short as always.

Good thing you brought up about how interactive the new book is yet their discussion board is so un user friendly!

Zorro,
I don't know what to think about her new selection. I was really hoping for something fun. I do enjoy her magazine and trying to live your best life, blah blah blah but I don't want to have to work that hard while reading a book. Eeker

Hello All!
Zorro- I hope I see LeeAnn on the show as well as myself, that would be fun.
I'm just so thankful I found you guys here. The message board at Oprah is pretty dead.
Pam - I agree with you. I worked really hard (in my 40's) on my bachelor's degree, and I don't want to work that hard on reading a book, ugh.
I'm so glad I don't feel alone on this, I get it, live your best life, etc etc.
I'm not a billionaire with a couple of mansions, we pay our bills with little leftover, I have to worry about my husband's dangerouse job (bomb squad) so I want to read something entertaining!
I look forward to reading Midnight with you here and can't wait to start.
Somehow The New Earth does not inspire me at the moment.
A quote from the book I am currently reading now, I love it!
From One Good Turn by Kate Atkinson
"no time." She laughed, Martin couldn't imagine a world where there was no time to read."
My thoughts exactly! M.

Merty,
I am going to be very envious once everyone starts talking about the book and how they have all grown since starting the class with Oprah, that I am going to rush out and buy the darn thing. So, I'm just wondering, Do I just go out and get it now, or do I wait until half through the 10 week program and then try to catch up? What to do What to do? I am such a DORK!

I started reading Midnight and am several chapters in. From what I remember about the movie the book seems to be pretty close, so far.

Pam,
I'm getting the book from the library. When I saw the book choice online I quickly requested it from the library. If I like it, I may buy it. But at least I'm not paying for a book I may not like. Smiler Tea

Thanks, Tea, that is a great idea. I will have to give it a shot. Our little county library is very limited on the selections that they have available but it is certainly worth a try.

Pam- I know, I've been trying to decide if I should read the book as well. There are just so many great books on my bookshelf though!
Well, my Mom hasn't called me back, she is 5 hours ahead and she is watching the Oprah show right now, she said if she saw me, she would call me! Nope. No call. Even my Mom was disappointed in the preview of today's show and she doesn't read. LOL.

I'm not going to buy the book. If I can get it at the library, I will.
