This is a tad belated perhaps, considering the closing ceremony is tonight.

From BookReporter.com

Question:
Will the Olympics and political convention coverage take away from your reading time? (Check as many as apply. -- You can't do that in polls here but feel free to let us know if you'd select multiple options in a post.)

Choices:
NOTHING takes me away from my reading time.
The Olympics coverage may keep me from my usual reading.
The Democratic Convention may keep me from my usual reading.
The Republican Convention may keep me from my usual reading.
I am not sure about this.

I checked that I might have spent some of my reading time watching the Olympics. I did watch a lot of Olympics but I also read while watching the Olympics at times. I'm also planning on watching both party's conventions but I might read during those depending on how dry they are.

Unfortunately not only the Olympics has been taking me away from my reading time, but the US Open Tennis Series and golf too.

Hand is raised.

The Olympics has and the Democratic convention will take away from reading.

My hand is raised too and if ya'll couldn't tell by now I will be watching the Republican convention. I figure Obama's gotten way more media attention than McCain so far so it's time to hear what he has to say. I swear if he uses the word "change" and doesnt back it up with fact I'll shoot myself. Well from the little I know about the US politics and how so many were cheering for Hillary I woulda thought he would of picked her for VP.

As it turns out Joseph Biden is who he decided. Catholic no less. That should cover the base's.

And Biden has experience and grey hair and they say he comes from a working man's background (I don't know). I am sorry that he couldn't pick Hilary, but I think she would have been a liability to him. There are too many (men) who don't like her assertiveness ( they would say aggressiveness ).

Great question!

I don't think anything has severely cut into my reading time, but I'm not sure what'll happen next week. I usually read before bed and on the weekends. Who knows? With all the political stuff being so overanalyzed, I may get more reading done!! The news reports drove me batty yesterday!

I don't think Obama is going to look out for the troops.

I think for the first time in my voting career Smiler I have no idea whom I'm going to vote for. I'm not even excited, which I find so sad. Use to love all the hoopla. Now I feel so shaded. I hope I hear something, anything that will get me eager again.

Jan, I am so confused about who to vote for or not vote for.

This may sound silly but I am still hoping for some unforseen thing happening at the convention like in the old days. Big Grin I would even get happy with a good write in candidate to vote for.

But who is out there that would be a good president? (You really don't have to answer that one) Big Grin

I have alot of respect for Colin Powell, but he said he didn't ever want to run for President.

I'm not crazy of the picks either, Obama never served and he strikes me as too young and inexperienced. And McCain strikes me as being a hothead at times but he did serve.
