Zorro, Thanks for posting a schedule. I started it last night and will try not to get ahead. Also, I think Ramona mentioned she was interested in reading with us. lynne

Let's see if this will work for our discussion. I think cindy, Lynne, Anne(?)and I will be interested in reading together. Anyone else?

Zorro, Page 8 for me but am going to read a bit more tonight before bed. It beats the old television anytime. There are a few exceptions, like when Masterpiece Theatre is on. I missed the first part of Jane Eyre but saw the second half. Glad you mentioned it to us. It was quite enjoyable and I though it was very well done. Lynne

Hey Mary! I already have the book because my little sister Mary who never reads has read most of the book and enjoyed it. <gasp> I'd enjoy reading it with ya'll but I've got a short 166 page book for my other book club and Special Topics for Somedays as well as working my way through TPOTE although I'm rather behind. So I'll have to see how reading goes in the beginning of this week. I might try and fit it in but I'll be reading ya'll's discussion to see what ya'll think at the least.

Hi Anne, I was hoping you would read with us. I am loving the book. And I am angry with one of the characters! I also am the age of the main characters and had children in the 1960 and 70s so the attitudes ring so true to our lives back then...you youngsters might not feel the same!

Zorro, I can identify with the time period of raising my family as well. Cloth diapers and putting them in the diaper pail to soak. Can't say I miss doing that anymore. I even had two babies in diapers for a brief time. Not really bragging here. When my 3rd and youngest child was born, I said this is going to be a pampered baby. Guess what? She was allergic to them. Not funny at the time but I can smile about it now. lol lynne Smiler

Ditto here 2 babies in diapers! My third, born in 1975, was not allergic, thank goodness! My 6 month old granddaughter has never even had diaper rash with the disposables. I keep her 3 days a week and it all seems easier now. Maybe it is because she comes at noon and goes home around 6pm!

So, back to the diaper pail it was.

Yes Zorro, I'm remembering right along with you. lol lynne Smiler

The safety pins would be so hard to push through on the double diapers too. But I loved those days of babies and being Suzie Homemaker. Don't think I would have wanted to be called that though.

I think the way Edwards writes about snow in the book and seeing the connections to the story has captivated me even more. I am not sure if this is the author's intentions or if it is just me zeroing in on a subject that interests me.

In this case I see the background of snow as a definite aid to further my understanding even deeper than I otherwise might.

Does anyone else see this or am I completely
whacko? Confused lynne

ps. How many ways does it take her to describe snow? Let me count the ways. (Just had to say it) lol

Lynne, Yes, I was just thinking that about the snow as I read a passage about dogwood petals and snow. She is really using some powerful symbols throughout the book.
