I must read their books as soon as they come out in hardback because I love their stories and I'm never let down!

James Patterson

Without a doubt! Must have them...I don;t know why it just isn't as satisfying to borrow these from the library.

Only 3? That's a tough one. I'll do my best.

John Steinbeck - without a doubt

Cormac McCarthy - a fairly new discovery for me

Barbara Kingsolver - an all-time favorite of mine

LeeAnn

Well Jane Austen, Rosamunde Pilcher, and J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series would be on my list except it seems this is referring to authors who are currently releasing works, so...

-Diana Gabaldon (Outlander series)
-Sara Donati
-Christy Yorke (discovered only recently, but have purchased all five of her books)

Mar,
Why am I not surprised we have an author in common? Wink Have you read Rosina Lippi? (She writes under the pen name, Sara Donati.) So far I haven't, but I occasionally read her blog. Here's the link.

Lori, Cindy,

J. D. Robb, well, that's a no brainer for me. Thank you both, for talking so much about the series, I would have never picked one of them up and look at me now, almost done with book #7 and I see myself reading all 27 of them. My new favorite author! J. D. Robb has made it a fun time reading this summer!

Oh-oh Lori,
If you love the Outlander series, Donati's books are a must! I've read three of the five--I'm saving the last two. LOL. In fact, Gabaldon mentored Donati with her writing and there are references within her books to characters from Gabaldon's books. Definitely check these out.

Opps, I forgot to mention, these are called The Wilderness series and the order is:
1) Into the Wilderness
2) Dawn on a Distant Shore
3) Lake in the Clouds
4) Fire Along the Sky
5) Queen of Swords
