I am sometimes asked to recommend books for a discussion group at a residence for seniors, and they prefer books without a lot of violence and explicit sex. They also require copies in audio and large print as well as regular print. The group consists of both men and women. It would be helpful to have a list of books that would fit these requirements.

That is a good idea. Around the holidays I sometimes buy books for a great aunt in an assisted living home and I know she would appreciate a nice "wholesome" story vs. anything with violence. I, too, have had trouble finding just the right books for her.

Some of the books I have bought her in the past are the Mitford series by Jan Karon. I think "Three Men in A Boat" by Jerome K. Jerome would be okay too. It's been several years since I read it but I don't believe there was anything of a violent or sexual nature in it. Also, the books by Jane Austen - but the men might not be too enthused with them :-)

Koko, maybe your local librarian or book store employee can come up with some titles for you and it would be nice too if we had a category here on this website for readers to just list a book he/she has read that would be good for a gift, etc. Can we do this???????

We most surely can-- you can set up a topic of your own by using the NEW button, or if you think we'd actively post often, I can even set up a separate board for it Big Grin Either way, please just let me know!
