I love hearing how people find their current book group, or start one on their own. It's always interesting to hear what makes people want to come together and talk books... or what made you decide that this was the perfect group for you!

If you have an interesting story, please, share it with us all! Big Grin

This isn't exactly a colorful story, but having seen the good, bad and semi ugly of various groups for several years, when I came across meetup.com, attended some meetups and saw that it provides a good support system, I set up one that matched my general preferences and the rest is history. Of course, once others joined, it's evolved to match group preferences, which is great with me since it's a compatible group.

Our story of how the Sweet Connections book club was formed is kind of cute. We have been together for almost 4 years now and have just had a great time together.

About a year before we established our book club, a gal I work with was always talking about her book club. She would talk about what they were reading and the great conversations and fellowship that they had. Well I always showed interest in what she shared and secretly wished that she would eventually ask me to join. Well she never did.

Then summer came along and I was having a fun day at the lake with a few gals. We had all ended up reading Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons by Lorna Landvik and decided--Why don't we just start a book club?? And the rest is history!

So between 'Angry Housewives' and the gal not asking me to join her club is how our club was established. We sometimes joke around and say how grateful we are that she didn't ask me to join her club because we wouldn't be together today!
