We chose our first book, REASONABLE JOY,because the person after whom we are named was very excited about this book. After that first book, we just wrote names of favorite books on slips of paper, and we put them in a hat. We kept pulling titles until we had planned our year. Not too exciting, but it worked for us this first year.

The members of our group, Home Avenue Book club, recomend books to the membership in August each year. In order to recommend a book, you must have read it in advance.

In September, we pass around a synopsis of each book, and vote by secret ballot.

The top twelve vote getters are our choices for the next year.
