I recently joined my first book club and just started reading next month's selection. However, I'm struggling with the best approach to reading the book, taking notes, and remembering important points. Does anyone have suggestions? Are there tools available to help readers be more efficient? Currently I am highlighting important passages and jotting down notes on a pad of paper, but I'm wondering if there is a better way. I'm sure it varies by reader, but I am just curious what other people are doing.

Thanks for your help!

Hey Buckeye

I think it really depends on your group and how they structure their discussions. Is it a general discussion or do they ask more specific questions? I prefer questions that lead to some contemplation and the groups here at RGG seem to work that way.

When I read a book that has either difficult content or something that I want to make sure to bring up during a chat, I use Pop up post it notes and jot a though on them. It doesn't interrupt the flow of reading, the way taking notes might and still gives me the little reminder I need to bring up a point or a thought.

They also have little ones now that are more like a page flag~you can hang them over the edge of the page so you can see it when the book is closed.
